Ju 88 A-1

I am trying to find out how to track the 'fate' of a JU 88 A-1.
I have the Henschel Flugzeug-Werke plate with all numbers and a machine gun magazine cover from the aircraft recovered by my father during the war, supposedly after it was downed by 'random bren gun fire'.
The magazine is in excellent condition, the ID plate is jagged down one side from explosive damage and slight buckling.
Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

Re: Ju 88 A-1

Thanks John.
I'll try and sort out posting a photo - I've obviously got all the numbers from it.
I am going by 'old stories' told me by my Father - who I remember telling me it came down in Dunkirk area during the evacuations........?

Re: Ju 88 A-1

Hopefully, I have manage to attach a photo of the plate.
In case not, here are the details:

Henschel Flugzedug-Werke
Lizenz Junkers
Best. Nr. 54837/20
Zeichn. Nr. 88 624-26
Typ u. Grp. Ju 88 A-1
Kontr. (Three stamps: Circled '24'; Henschel badge; 'BA' in octagon)

I am most interested in finding more about this aircraft.

Re: Ju 88 A-1

Your plate is definitely real. However, unfortunately, since it does not show the airframe W.Nr., it is not possible to investigate the history of this particular airplane any further. Ju 88 experts may be able to identify the plate's component assembly and provide some associated production information. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Re: Ju 88 A-1

Thank you for your information Stephen. I have just had this confirmed from elsewhere also. Disappointing - as a 'novice' to this, I had hoped to find all the aircraft details etc. However, it has started a spark and a new interest that I will pursue. I am very impressed by the wealth of information available here, and the dedication of so many as I read the threads. All these people contribute vastly to an interest followed by, I imagine, thousands.
A huge thank you to everyone who does all this research!
