Re: Book on Air Raids to Schweinfurt

Also see:

Golücke, Friedhelm. Schweinfurt und der strategische Luftkrieg 1943 (Paderborn, 1980).

It has been 20+ years since I read it, but IIRC it's a scholarly, well-researched study told from the German side. It has excellent material that I have not seen elsewhere. However, this is an academic-level historical work and does not include the "who shot who down" sort of stuff that you may be looking for.

Re: Book on Air Raids to Schweinfurt

HI guys:

Many thanks for suggestions ind information:

Larry: Is this work available on public? Would it be possible to have a look into ZG 76 as it is describen?

Anton: I still hoep that I will see the detailed map also in BAMA under KART 43 source do nto know but will try to check it. (forgot to do so last time )
However, I will try to dig out the book you mentioned.

Gizmo: II./ZG 76 had two damaged a/c, but both due to bordwaffenschuss. 10 and 20% damage. Interesting in comparison to 7 claimed victories of ZG 76 pilots....I do nto see these in your compilation

I think here is much more to researche. As I said, I believe this day has to be researched by someone (definitelly not me minute by minute from both sides...At least it would be polite to do so for the numbers of death and wounded who flew that day on both sides...

regards

Hi Peter -

There are several available on the used book market - see:

http://www.eurobuch.com/search_results.php

Also, you can go to your local library and ask them to get it for you through interlibrary loan.

'gards,

Larry

You're right Peter. I overlook 6 damaged Bf 110s (all 0-40%).

Re: Book on Air Raids to Schweinfurt

Gentelemen,

at least B-17 42-3056 (Zack, 379.BG) was finally shot down by Bf 110. This a/c flew alone, so it must have been damaged (maybe a HSS?) and/or claimed as e.V.

Hope this helps

Heuser
