Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Salut Jean-Paul,

for me it looks like a Ju from KG77 or KG26.
The color sheme looks for me to like a torpedo or
anti shipping unit. The KG 26 lost some over central france,
while fighting against the invasion around D-Day.
They startet from bases in southern france and went up
to the chanell.
There is an interesting book with some details about:
"Torpedo los" about the KG26 missions.
I'll try to find some more info.

Greetings

Lino

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

DB601E:

Many KG 76 aircraft had this type of camouflage also,
for example in Italy 1943 and many of them are known with W.Nr´s. Wood blades = A-4 / D-1 / C-6 etc. and thus not A-7 3084 !

JPB6311:

Is this in central France? You have Lat./Long. ?

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Hi.

I have details of 2500+ Ju 88's lost during this timespan in operative front units.

In addition I suspect there are some possibilities in the school units as well.

KG 76 lost about 240 of these, KG 26 90 and KG 77 about 120.

Will have a look and see if I can find any likely losses that maths your relics.

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Location is alright, but are we sure about the date ?? , a 100 % " damaged" plane in 1943 not to complicated to find it seems

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

If the 3084 is preceeded by a 4 would this make this a 'D' or a 'T' like Khorat found some, but location not right i.e. 24-8-43 Ju88D 430842 Wekusta 26 west of Litteria, 10-8-43 430847 Ju88D 3(F)/33 location unknown no crew losses, 10-10-43 JU88T 430845 of 2(F)/123 10% damaged at Athens Tatoi.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

RT: Luftflotte 3 area?

Brian: T model whould have BMV 801 radial, not Jumo 211 F/J as wreck (and VS II props) has.

Andreas: I have all these too and have combed all possible numbers ranges: A-4 300xxx seems to me most likely. Also armour plate shows it was made in 1943!

All: We do not actually see but 30xx for shure but bottom of third letter is round and could thus be 0, 3, 6, 8, 9. Next letter after that could be either 1, 4, 7. But looking at colour and placement of number: if six letters long, then two might be before 30 (eg. 8230xx) but that part of rudder do not show any!

So likely not 430xxx range.

823xxx was A-4 also but only first appearing in December 1943. However these are known of having only last four painted on top of fin. Any having details of 823084 ?

If loss is not later than in October 1943 then it should have been in 1943 losses but might have been reported in 1944 losses (not available).

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Just to clear the straight 3084 issue - Ju 88A-5, 3084, n.n., , , Flzg.Führ.Sch. C 14, , , BK+NP, , 11-Sep-42, Tire damage., , Deutschland, Tägliche Verlustmeldung Schulen usw., , Rhein-Main, 15%, H, , , Henschel Flzg.Werke Schönefeld in May-40.
Ju 88A-7, 3084, Krawinkel, Uffz. Alfred, , IV., KG 1, , , BK+NP, , 18-Oct-43, Crew killed in crash due to pilot error., , Ostfront, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #11)-Vol.22, , Kraciai, 100%, H, , , Henschel Flzg.Werke Schönefeld in May-40.

I don't recall anyone mentioning the 33084x range, but there are several lost in France in the summer of 44.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

thenelm: I made it especially clear that A-1 / A-5 / A-7 0883084 is NOT this plane as quite different version. 0883084 whould have had Jumo 211 G engines with aluminium propeller blades. Aircaft almost certainly is A-4 and Jumo 211 F/J engines (and 330xxx series only came in Summer 1944, besides A-7 crashed in different part of Europe).
