Hi Chris,
according to 501 Squadron History -by David Watkins + Phil Listemann
P/O Eric G Parkin (79734) was posted in to 501 from 6 OTU in May 1940 had a bad crash in Hurricane P.3349 due to engine failure at Gravesend on 31 July 1940 and severely injured. Re-joined 501 on 5 Feb 1941 but posted out in April 1941 to non-operational duties.
