Re: FW-190 ID Help
Aircraft is DN+FV, W.Nr. 160022. I have a clear photo of this aircraft (left side tail section and of course the often seen 3/4 right rear view shot in color) showing the factory codes and W.Nr. on the tail. The common feature to the two images (one above and other in my archives) given that a portion of the factory codes are presumably blocked is the triangular shaped damage hole in the rudder just aft of the elevator. It is the same position on both images with associated W.Nr. and factory codes which draws out the aircraft identity.

Re: FW-190 ID Help
Hi,
Here are some details on FW 190 G-3 W.Nr 160 022 'DN + FV': 31.08.43: W.Nr 160 022 was assigned to 10./S.K.G. 10, after arriving from Vicenza on this day. 09.09.43: III./S.K.G. 10 reported that this aircraft was destroyed by German troops at Montecorvino airfield, Italy. FW 190 G-3 W.Nr 160 022 'DN + FV' was found by the Allies at Montecorvino, and was reported to have been "reasonably intact". More details about this aircraft, as well as a number of photos of it, will be found in the forthcoming book by Morten Jessen and I about the Focke-Wulf 190 in Sicily and Italy. Cheers, Andrew A. |

Re: FW-190 ID Help
Guys, thank you very much for this interesting discussion and valuable information. Some time ago I have selected this particular plane (because of the known color photo from the other side) for drawing of a color profile for prepared book with Fw 190 profiles. Our left side was just a reconstruction. Now I can see, it exactly. Glad to say, we were not too out of reality, but anyway, there are some details which can be now corrected on the left side of the profile.
On this way I have one question: - please do you think, that the lower engine cowling might be painted white (as in "MTO"?). From the photo it looks mre likely as yellow... I will appreciate any your suggestion. Best regards, Jan
