We came to that conclusion too Chuck, the Lion is most likely spot on. A guy called Parabellum rendered it. The Rabbit was my initial thought back in April 2010 when this was first posted on LEMB. Seems that we now have two different connections to KG30...

One mystery is solved. These are three different Ju 88 A-series aircraft, and may or may not be exactly same emblem, in my opinion. One (Chucks photo) is an Ju 88 A-4 Late Production Version with (Oerlikon) FF 20 mm cannon, one is Ju 88 A-6 (Big fender, one wire brace seen) and one is an Ju 88 A-14 (Knife-edge cutter on nose). Note all three emblems have diffrent positioning. I fail see the precise KG 30 connection. -Ed

To answer to your last question Clint; I'm convinced by none! except for the stars and spade!

In the mean time I think both trials are closed to what it is supposed to be but remains a lot of misteries (The "arm" starting from the "head" at left for example")

Let's say it's like the former JG26 "eagle" emblem; but even worst.

Last; As for me - even if it's/I'm wrong - I like the rabbit interpretation because of the eyes and arm I talked about above... If not the tail stuff!!!

Post No.5, photo No.2 – I have studied this particular rendition of the emblem for a while, and my conclusion is that the rendition in post No.7 is generally good representation of it, albeit with left foreleg being omitted.

In my opinion… The motif represents an enraged, menacing looking lion facing the threat in the form of a broad double-edged sword with a swastika superimposed on its pommel thrusted through the lion's tail. The lion’s left foreleg waving furiously in disapproval or agony. The lion’s shape resembles that of the British Isles. The uppermost star might or might not have been a stylized crown, as suggested in post No.15. The shield background is believed to represent a night sky with stars, which might have been reference to the unit’s nocturnal bombing of the British Isles.

With reference to post No.13 – the aforementioned is probably the earliest, more elaborate emblem variant, which was later followed by simplified renditions, some of them possibly meant to ridicule the opponent. I also failed to see a precise connection with KG 30.
