Re: 171012 Fg Off B Travers

Does anyone have the full name, and serial numbers for his observer, P/O A H C W Patterson? He was apparently a F/Sgt on July 31, 1942 with 25 Sqn.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Here is a start, the A and W are for Alexander Winter:

His NCO serial number was 1559968.

Thanks for that RSwank.

It appears (London Gazette) that his officer's service number was 173298. Also, Alexander Winter Patterson received an MBE in the New Years Honours List of 1979.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Re: 171012 Fg Off B Travers

In this instance as you found, googling Travers gazette 171012

Only brings up the pages for promotions after his initial commishion.

If you change the last digit to 1 however, assuming most men on page had similar batch of numbers, his commishioning shows up and it reveals that an OCR error placed a dash in the middle of his serial number, probably some dirt on the page.

Give it a go

171011 travers gazette

Search for the three terms in google
