Fascinating thread - thanks for all the details about the balloons. I knew a little bit about them from a podcast which mentioned them but never knew that was what killed Neuhaus and Hungerland. Puts a pretty unique spin on his Flugbuch now I guess!

Minor point but I should clarify from my earlier post where I mention 33 Feindflug - that is what the seller told me. Sadly it proved to be 33 "Einsatz" which were clearly training missions, to be fair to the seller a JG77 Flugbuch I own has every operational mission recorded as an "Einsatz" so there is potential for some confusion.

May 11, 1943 at 6.15 am a rubber balloon the size of a normal room was found in Hattemerbroek.
