Alain57,

according to G. Warner, The Bristol Blenheim…

Z6084 failed to return from intruder operation to St. Truiden to support third “1000 Bomber” raid. Shot down at 01.38 by night fighter of NJG1.

ciao

Re: Blenheim Z6084 crash in Belgium

Hi Alain57,

Z6084 - 26/06/42 with 13 Squadron at Odiham and took-off from Wattisham at 2356 hours on the 25th on an intruder sortie to St-Trond airfield in support of the Thousand Bomber Raid on Bremen. Probably shot down by Oblt. Eckart-Wilhelm von Bonin in a Do 217 of 6./NJG 1. P/O P.G.Frith, Sgt H.H.W.Vinter and Sgt R.T.Plant were all killed and are buried in the Churchyard at Houwaart, 11 miles north-east of Leuven, Belgium, close to where the a/c crashed. Von Bonin survived the war as a Major (Gruppenkommandeur) of I./NJG 102 with 39 victory claims in about 150 operational sorties. He died 11/01/92.

All the best,

Blenheim
