Smile Wilhelm Hofmann

Wilhelm Hofmann was an Oberleutnant who served with JG26 on the Western Front during WWII; he is credited with 43 victories in the West. What is the consensus on the accuracy of Wilhelm Hofmann's claims while serving with JG26? Of particular interest to me are Hofmann's claims of two Mustangs on August 25, 1944; according to Petr Kacha's website the Mustangs Hofmann shot down belonged to 354th Fighter Group USAAF. Is there any evidence for the 354th FG losing any aircraft on this date, either from flak or enemy fighters?
