Mining of Danube on the night of 8/9 April 1944

Good night to all:
I would like to obtain more information about the mining of River Danube, carried out by aircraft of 205 Group ( RAF ) on the night of 8/9 April 1944. It is known that 3 x B-24 and 19 x Wellingtons took off that night. Was it a special Operation ( If yes, which was the code name ) and there were losses amongst the RAF aircraft?
Thanks for the help
Adriano

Adriano,

When you check this site http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/...ses/losses.htm
it appears that Wellington LP139 was lost on this mission (8 April 1944).

Regards,

Leendert

Adriano,

According to Lihou, 12 aircraft failed to return (highest percentage loss ever by 205 Bomber Group)

I think it is a typo, as far as I know there was only one loss for that night.

Adriano,

A question on this topic was on this forum in 2006: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=5806

The 12 lost aircraft that Csaba mentions were during the whole campaign.
Thread of 2006 gives the details.

Regards,

Leendert
