III./JG 54 black 15 crash date

Hi all

I am looking for the date of the crash shown on photos at this page
http://www.pewteraircraft.com/STRUCK...90%20A%208.htm
Can someone point out the WNr.?
In his Flugbuch he noted three flights in Fw 190 with tactical number 15. None with note of emergency landing, crash landing or whatever caused the Fw to be as on photos. the first flight was at ZG 76, remaining two already with JG 54. Question for marking experts...Is it possible that the special marking of the Fw 190 was the usual style for ZG 76 Focke Wulfs?
Eventually has someone bigger photo of pilot Heinz Schmidt available?
THANKS a lot...

The story was published years ago in the Aeroplane. This was special marking for Oder bridges operations.

If I only knew the issue. The man for whom you are looking is Richard Chapman of Kaufberen.

HI
I have some cuttings from the origional "aeroplane monthly" article and it states that Heinz Schmidt flew with 10./JG 54 and that he crashed his black 15 on his return from an attack on the Oder bridges date 11.3.1945.There are two other photos of crashed aircraft from the same unit (quality not good).

Re: III./JG 54 black 15 crash date

Luftwaffe Q.M's returns dated 21-3-45 show two crashlanded Fw190's of III/JG54 at Eggersdorf on 11-3-45 - wn 759560 35% inf. Bedienungsfehler and wn 961964 15% Feindbeschuss (nicht Feindbeob.) No mention of pilots who must have not been hurt, and no aircraft markings shown.

Re: III./JG 54 black 15 crash date

Keep in mind that this is a completely "new" III./JG 54, not the original one which merged with JG 26 in early 1945. This new unit was, I think, made up from non-fighter trained pilots. Perhaps someone can amplify.
