Me 410 A-3 PS+TW

Hello

I have photos of a Me 410 that has a "W" underneath its left wing (at wing tip) [the photo will be published this year in a book therefore I can't show it here].

Comparing with other Me 410 this should be the last letter of the StKz. The StKz on the fuselage was overpainted but the first 2 are still readable and they are "PS".

There are several Me 410 A-3 in Petrick's/Stocker's book with StKz PS+T. : from WNr 170109 PS+TA to 170122 PS+TN. Then there is a gap from 170122 to 170133. I assumed that the StKz continued with 170123 PS+TO etc. and concluded that PS+TW was 170131.

However, PS+TW was apparently assigned to a Bf 109 G-6.

Maybe the letter "W" was not a StKz letter but the aircraft letter W of 8H+WH?

Does anybody have a PS+TW as Me 410 A-3 in his records?

Thanks,
Roger

Could it be PS+UW? We have the following on the open source LEMB Sktz database which are in turn reproduced from page 74 of "Messerschmitt Me210/410 Hornisse, An Illustrated Production History" by P.Petrick & W.Stocker [Midland, 2007]:

WNr.120153 - Me410 - PS+US
WNr.? - Me410 - PS+UT/PS+VJ
WNr.? - Me410 - PS+UU
WNr.? - Me410 - PS+UV
WNr.? - Me410 - PS+UW
WNr.? - Me410 - PS+UX

These are listed as part of a batch produced by Dornier at Munchen...

Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot for the info. You are right, I missed that one in Petrick's/Stocker's book.

I'll have a close look again at the overpainted StKz on the fuselage. The first two letters are readable but the last two not because the unit code is written over them. But I'll give it another try.

Cheers,
Roger
