The above was used by a Beobachter who flew all of the war with 6/KG 53 but I also have 69876 as being 6/KG 53. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

As discussed, I have that number as 3./Erg.KG2 which is curious. Cannot confirm 69876 but I have 65117 for 6./KG53 at least during 1940.

Hi,

Your Beobachter recived his EM in the 3.Staffel/Ergänzungskampfgruppe 2.
Later he moved to the K.G.53 and kept his old EM. That was not
uncommon.

Thanks gentlemen. The chap started off on 6/KG 53 and at the end of 1943 was on a training unit before returning to 6/KG 53 in mid-44 so it is possible that he changed his EKM when he became an instructor.
