Helmut Lent' s last flown Ju 88

Via google i found the info that Lent flew a Ju 88 G-6 on his last flight. The W.Nr. 751081 was referenced.

From the Flugzeugbestand- und Bewegungsmeldungen of the Stab/NJG 3 i see that there is no loss of a Ju 88 G-6 but a R-2. What is the truth?

By the way is there some sort aof database for Ju 88 Werknummern available?

Re: Helmut Lent' s last flown Ju 88

It is documented that D5+AA was Lent's personal Ju 88 R-2. There are several databases with Ju 88 nightfighters, but they are not widely distributed.

Thanks ArtieBob.

That means my copies of the Flugzeugbestand- und Bewegungsmeldungen of the Stab/NJG 3 are correct?

Re: Helmut Lent' s last flown Ju 88

Well Artie

I don't have any database on the Ju 88 what so ever, and it puzzles me that Balss does not state Lent's accident/loss in any of his volumes.

Hinchcliffe in his biography about Lent states that he flew a Ju 88 WNr 751088 coded D5+AA. No version unfortunately of the -88

Should I interpret your answer that you confirm that WNr 751088 is a model R-2??

Cheers
Stig

Re: Helmut Lent' s last flown Ju 88

Based on the data I have seen, W.Nr. 751088 is an R-2. The main document is a schedule for installation of Flensburg, which identifies the sub-type, W.Nr. and the assignment of this specific aircraft to Lent (IMHO, a copy of primary documents). The 751xxx block appears to be a mix of Ju 88 C-6 and R-2s. The G-1 and G-6 subtypes appear to be in distinctly separate W.Nr. blocks.

Best Regards,

Artie Bob
