Colours of RHAF Ju 87 Berta-2 (B.601, B.602)
Colours of RHAF Ju 87 Berta-2 (B.601, B.602)
In 1940 RHAF had bought from Germny 2 Ju 87 B-2 (B.601, B.601 or later B.6+01, B.6+02). Both were used for training. Planes had interesting camuflage in 3 colours upper side, I wonder which was the third one. In my opinion this Hungarian Ju 87-B-2 had standard German RLM71/70/65 and was painted aditional third one from above ( I do not know this one) - grey, light brown, any ideas? . Hungarain in the Winter 1940 had tested own camuflage on FIAT CR.42 maybe they used also such aditional paint on both Ju 87. May somone can add aditional comments to this post. Regards Mirek Wawrzyński

Re: Colours of RHAF Ju 87 Berta-2 (B.601, B.602)
The Ju 87B would have been factory finished in RLM 70/71/65. There is poor quality picture of the Ju 87 with a light color on the upper surface. Whay it is is probably unknown and unknowable.
Th Hungarians applied multi-colored camouflage on a number of aircrat that would not have had such camouflage applied at the factory, such as the Cr 42, He 112 and Fw 58. There has been speculation that they used German and Italaian colors. But then agian, one would suspect that Hungary had its own paint companies. If I was modeling the aircraft, I would apply the "sand" color in large blotches over the 70/71.

Mirek,
these Ju 87's had not any interesting camouflage, it was the standard camo in the Hungarian Air Force at this time. Believe me or not, the third colour was yellow and you shouldn't hold your concept regarding the RLM colours. In the early wartime period the Hungarians had significantly different colours and schemes and these two planes were repainted during their service (I guess, two times). |

Re: Colours of RHAF Ju 87 Berta-2 (B.601, B.602)
Hi
Thanks for your comments and tips to Modeldad and Csaba Csaba I know that this is not so important but when you do colors for the book and you want to have credible information you are checking even so small details. We have for the several days some discuttion with Robert Peczkowski about this case. As you know (there are some photos from your source) soon or late will be edit my book Ju 87 in Foreign Service where the B.601+B.6+02 Ju 87 B-2 have own colours. So this is not so easy as we would like to see. It is better to check before then after, :-) Regards, Mirek Wawrzyński PS Csaba I wonder (If I can ask) where do you have some RHAF Ju 87 photos from? Some photos I also have (this B.601) from Laszlo Javor others not but this is normal.

Re: Colours of RHAF Ju 87 Berta-2 (B.601, B.602)
I have Ju 87 photos from the veterans and their families. I visited not just the survived veterans but found many relatives of the fallen crewmembers also and they gave these photos to me.
Yes, I know, that some ppl hold the same photos. Just one example: one Ju 87 pilot gifted all of his photos to me (as a present, because he said, that I am, who spending all of his time with the research after this unit and the best way to restoring these materials to gave it to me - BTW I don't ask these genuine positives from him, he sent it to me in an envelope). Altough many other fellows taken repros from these photos, I own the genuine positives. |
