Hungarian Bf109 WNr. 613165

Greetings all,

image of this airplane is well know but I am a little bit curious about some details. What is the color of the cross inside insignia- look like grey but which one? Also airplane feature very light colored vertical rudder as well band arround the nose. White?

Cheers

Re: Hungarian Bf109 WNr. 613165

Greetings!

I can provide some educated guesswork on this issue: the hungarian units at this time was closely working together with the Luftwaffe, and generally followed suit with the changes
of camouflage and markings.

The yellow noseband and tail was the tactical marking of Luftflotte 4 as can be seen on the group of hungarian fighters surrendering together with II JG 52.

As for the colour inside the Hungarian cross, I believe it was simply the background colour, as simplified markings was the rule of the day.

Best Wishes!

Angantyr

According Poruba-Janda: Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10/U4. Production and Operational Service:

Test Flight on March 27 1945 in Kralup A/F, Bohemia, piloted by Nicolaus Mortl. On May 2nd and 9th 1945 in evidence of Hungarian 2./101 as Black 16.
