Another FAA/Luftwaffe query 19/6/41

Hi guys

On 19 June 1941 Sub-Lt CM Davies of 880 flying a Sea Hurricane (N2367)apparently claimed a share in shooting down two He111s off Dundee or a share in shooting down a Ju88 and damaging two more over the Firth of Forth in W9221. Highly confusing!

Does anyone know the facts, please? Who else was involved? From which units were the He111s/Ju88s? Were there any losses? I assume there was a raid on ......?

Hi Brian,

I assume you got this from Ray Sturtivant's book? I have not been able to find any mention of these victories in any other sources 1941. Also I could not find details of a Luftwaffe raid on that date. Do you know where 880 Squadron was based on that date? In most sources the first victory by 880 squadron was claimed (by Judd and Howarth) during the Kirkenes/Petsamo withdrawal in June.

As you know Davies is still a Sub-Lieutenant a year later, and seems to be involved in testing multi-engined aircraft for the rest of the war.
