Info on Spitfire mkV crashed off Dieppe

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody had any information regarding a Spitfire which crashed on 19 Aug 1942 in the sea just off the coast of Dieppe, France.

Anything you can give would be fantastic.

Ned

Ned: 19 Aug 42 was the date of the Dieppe Raid and, to put it bluntly, there were more than one or two Spitfires 'lost off Dieppe'!!!

Chris,

Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my original post. Yes I was aware of the Dieppe raid (Operation Jubilee) that day, I was wondering if anybody knew of a list of Fighter Command losses for 19 Aug 42.

Try Norman Franks books on Dieppe and Fighter Command Losses and Steve, who frequents this board, is researching 19 Aug 42 but in response to your initial question, in the region of 51 Spitfires came down 'off Dieppe' that day
