The name of Luftwaffe Pilot KIA in Libya...
Guys
Vaguely remember this story---maybe from Shores & co's 'Fighters over the Desert', maybe another book, I don't remember for sure but here goes: This pilot, as far as I could tell was a Experte for JG27; he had an unusual habit: Whenever he scored a vic that was just a 'belly landing' he'd follow up & strafe the wreck (AFTER the Pilot vacated it of course) thoroughly to prevent it from being salvaged; he did it repeatedly in the book until one day he was caught 'wreck strafing' by another allied fighter & was shot down & killed; So guys...anybody have any idea who this pilot was? Or did I misremember something? TiA nickm |
