Henschel Hs123 as used by China

Hi,

Slightly OT but does anyone know where I can find some info on the 12 Hs123s that were used by China?

Alex

The timing is right. In the latest issue of Small Air Forces Observer (SAFO), a multi-page article was published about the topic, incl. a few photos.

Re: Henschel Hs123 as used by China

Hello Alex,

There's a nice (but short) readers letter to Flugzeug Classic in issue 4/2005 regarding the Hs 123 in China. Klaus Neff, the son of Walter Neff (who participated in the assembly of the Hs 123 in china) wrote about this and added some nice photos. No W.Nr. is mentioned but several names of people who participated in the work.

Best wishes
/Mikael

Hi,

Thanks to all who have replied. It seems this topic has had some publicity. I'll wait and see what the SAFO article has to say on the subject before trying to obtain copies of the other articles.

This link was passed on to me from the J-aircraft.com site. It has some very interesting photos of the camo scheme.

Re: Henschel Hs123 by Rudolf Hofling

Hi
Probably most of this post concern the same team of source: Rudolf Hofling and Klauss Neff. Rudolf has send this story to several editors (in France, Germany, USA). So it was edited in French Air Magazine with very nice colour drawing - the first time "real" camuflage of this Hs 123 A-1, and quite many photos done in this period. He also done the same sending it to SAFO.
At last and not least in Poland the same story has been just edited. I have translated Rudolf story (with five photos, from Klauss Neff collection) in Militaria i Fakty no 2/2005 (edited about two months ago). This is still the same article as it have been published in earlier mentined magazines.

BTW this color made in Polish monograph is absolutly flase - colour , camuflage, squadron digits. In China Hs 123 were in 15 Squadron with the digits begin from 1501 to 1512 not any "1607", also there was not so upgareded version of this Hs 123, and also Chines markings were differnet placed not so, as made on this picture (when you see, read this story and compare photos you will see the the big differences like Me 109 with Me 262). So anyone looking at this Chineese picture looking at total wrong done thing.

Regards,
Mirek Wawrzyński
PS
Photos of Hs 123 have surfaceed not so long time ago as book in Poland was edited. So the author had switched his full color fiction and we had got what we have had.
