HMS EAGLE
Hello to all.
In the declaration of war, the aircraft carrier " HMS EAGLE " was in Asia. She also made stopover for Durban to show "the flag". But did she make stopover for Diégo-Suarez during this journey? I have a photo of three FAIREY SWORDFISH landed on airfield that I suppose being Diégo-Arrachart. On their drift are registered, at the top a "E" and down "4A" in bigger. The quality of the image doesn't allow me to read the serial which is behind. Thank you in advance for your answers. regards Franck |

Re: HMS EAGLE
Hi Franck,
Yes HMS Eagle arrived ar DS on 07 Dec 1939 and left on 08 Dec 1939, the Swordfish would have belonged to 813 Squadron. Cheers Bruce Lander |
