Ju.52s, 24 September 1943

Pilot Officer Eric Philip Twiname, RCAF was lost on 24 September 1943 whilst flying a Beaufighter of No.39 Squadron, presumably part of a formation (size undetermined). Object was enemy transports reported between Corsica and Leghorn. Hde led an attack on a Ju,52 formation and was last seen climbing towards Sardinia with one engine smoking.

Can details of this action be provided from either the German or RAF side ?

Re: Ju.52s, 24 September 1943

Seems to be a important group of JU52, I traced losses with II+III TG1, III TG4 II+III TG2 the flight was from Korsika to Pisa, at least 15 planes were lost, one of the last flight from Korsika, they destroyed at that date the planes not able to fly

Remi

No losses trace with fighters
