Oblt Lorenz

Does anyone have a mention of an Oblt Lorenz being lost with KGr 606/I/KG 77 some time in 1942?

Re: Oblt Lorenz

All I could find was a mention in 'K' 367/1942 ( 3Z+BL shot down 9-11-42) which identifies a Hpt. Lorenz as a St/kap of 1/KG77.

Re: Oblt Lorenz

We have a ton of Lorenz's.

As for Herbert Lorenz we have:

LORENZ, Herbert. (DOB: 17.05.06). 01.04.42 promo to Maj.
LORENZ, Herbert. 01.03.42 promo to Hptm.(Tr.O.). 27.04.42 Hptm., awarded Ehrenpokal. 16/17.06.44 Hptm. in 1./NJG 2, KIA – shot down or crashed into the sea east of Cancale on the north coast of Brittany.

Neither seems to be your man.
A search of the Lorenz's reveals none apparently associated with KGr. 606 or KG 77.

Re: Oblt Lorenz

After nearly 12 years, this guy is still vexing me but thanks to Matti I might be closer. Herbert Lorenz who was killed with 1./NJG 2 was with 3./806 in April 1940 probably at the time they were converting to Ju 88s. He then reappears in April 1942 as a Hptm when he gets the EP. So we have the Ju 88 & Küstenfliegergruppe connection and that he was still operational in April 1942 but not with III./KG 54 (which 806 would become)

Re: Oblt Lorenz

Hello,

10 years ago I wrote an article in the French magazine "AVIONS", which related the rescue, on 8th of November 1940, of the crew of a KG 26 He111, whose the observer was Oblt. zur Zee Helmut LORENZ.

I attached to this message the copy of the page of the article in which I briefly related the military career of this officer. May be is he your man ?

Re: Oblt Lorenz

Different man-this Lorenz was a torpedo man who then joined the Luftwaffe and KG 26
