StG 3 loss eastern front

Hello all,

i am looking for info on a loss with 1./StG 3 on 30.03.1944 around Ostrow.
First name of the Flugzeugführer could be Fritz or Friedrich.
Familyname of the Bordfunker/schütze was Smolla.
Ju 87 D5, S7+EH.

Any information would be appreciated.

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front

Hello Norbert,

here what I have:

FF. Uffz. Friedrich-Christian Eisenbach, (ab 01.08.43 bei der 1. Staffel) flog mit verschiedenen BOs oder BFs, wie:
Uffz. Arnold Rieckmann, Karl Zimmermann, Prang, Sibbers, Otto Pietsch, Markus, Franke, Scheller, Smolla, Heinzelmann, Kriegsberichter Bloch und mit verschiedenen Jus 87, wie: (S7+EH), (S7+FH), (S7+GH), (S7+HH), (S7+LH), (S7+DV), (S7+AU), (S7+KL), (S7+OL),

All of them came in that Staffel from Ergänzungsgruppe St.G.3
There is a book about Friedrich Eisenbach

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front

I`ll give you a part about their death from that book:

Gentlemen!

Would you be so kind as to inform the rest of us: the name of the book, the author, the publisher and perhaps where one might obtain a copy. Other details, like page count, ISBN, etc. would also be nice. It sounds intriguing!

Thanking you in advance....

DGS

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front

Hi Doug,

I believe Byron is referring to this book:

"Fronteinsätze eines Stuka-Fliegers: Mittelmeer und Ostfront 1943-44" by Hans Peter Eisenbach, Helios Verlag, 2009, 120 pages, ISBN: 978-3-938208-96-0

Widely available, including here:
http://www.christian-schmidt-fachbuc...oducts_id=6391

BTW, it's not obvious what the relationship is between Hans Peter Eisenbach and the book's subject, "Stuka-Fritz" (presumably Friedrich Eisenbach.) According to Hans Peter's bio on helios-verlag.com, he was born in 1952 and obtained Fritz's estate, including Flugbücher and photos, in 2005. The book apparently attempts to provide a complete account of the activities of I./StG 3 (later I./SG 3) from Sep '43 to Mar '44, based on Fritz' logbooks.

Regards,
Leon Venter

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front

It is possible to order the book directly from the author, the grandson of the pilot
Hans-Peter Eisenbach

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front

Look into:

Luftarchiv.de
Forum
sonstiges Luftwaffe
Multimedia
Fronteinsätze eines Stuka-Fliegers

There is a lot of additional information concerning the book und missions of "Fritz".

PS.: In the book it is not mentioned, that Fritz was married. On page 98 there is mentioned, that he received a letter from a girl friend. So when he died in age of 23 he did not have children. ??

I tried to get a book directly from Peter. But he has sold all copies available to him. But it is no problem to get the book in other book shops e.g. as mentioned above.

Excellent quality, low price, excellent pictures and very detailled information on the missions Fritz has flown. The book is a must for all who are interested in Luftwaffe pilots training, Stuka missions in 1943 in the aegean sea ( battle of Kefalonia, battle for Leros ) and Stuka missions in march 1944 on the bridgehead of NARWA. Additionally there is a film available, which was made during the battle of Kefalonia from the Stuka of FRITZ. See the book page 66 footnote 68. Excellent.

Two weeks ago we invited Peter to give us a briefing on Fritz´pilots training and missions. The briefing took three hours. It was an excellent power point briefing with more than 400 (!) slides. Very impressiv.
Peters briefing was not cheap. He asked 300 €uro + accomodation and travel expenses. But this is very good money for a really good briefing. We were fascinated from the presentation.

The exact position of the crash of the Ju 87 D5 S7+EH near UTKINO close to the river Velikaya is 57°06´28´´North and 28°44´20´´ East or in UTM it is 35V PD 055 301. The aircraft is still lying there.
