Oberfeldwebel Benno Liper

Hello Alain

Prein has:

1 December 1943: Oberfeldwebel Benno Liper of 4./JG 1 shot down in aerial combat in Fw 190 A-5 (W.Nr. 410 007), crashed at Arnsberg, bailed out, 100%

I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Leo

Hello all,

Just to be more precise - Ofw. Miksch fell into the Albert Kanal near St. Trond.

best regards,

HiTomislav ,

Thanks for the reply , in fact Miksch crashed near the town of Bree which is some 45 km east of st-Trond , but he was buried in St-Trond.

Re: Ofw Liper Benno 4./JG1

To be more precise....

Fw. Alfred Miksch (JG1/JG3) crashed near the city of Bree and crashed in the Albert Canal according to wartime documents....He was buried indeed in St. Troud.

But there isn't an Albert Canal near Bree, so they have made a mistake in the name of this canal.

Most probably it was the Bocholt-Herentals Canal or Zuid- Willemsvaart which is situated directly near Bree where he crashed.

Miksch was found in his plane not badly injured. Most probably he broke his neck or drowned in the canal, after he had been shot down (he was trying to make a safetylanding).

Re: Ofw Liper Benno 4./JG1

Perhaps this would be interesting.....its only in german but describe the events on 1.12.1943 of JG1 (and JG11)

Die Lage beim Jagdgeschwader 1 und 11 am 1. Dezember 1943:

* II. / JG 1 in Rheine um 10:55 Uhr
* I. / JG 11 in Husum um 11:06 Uhr
* II. / JG 11 in Plantmünne 11:06 Uhr (10)
