Focke Achgelis Fa 223 carrying V2

Hi all,

in the book by Willbold, Hans "Der Luftkrieg zwischen Donau und Bodensee" , PY 2002 is a story which I would normally attribute to the "Nazi Secret Weapons in the Alpine Redoubt" post-war urban myths, but the book is an otherwise serious and somewhat dry account of the air-war in south western germany.
Here's the story:
During mountain evaluations a Fa 223 helo crashed in Chamonix (in occupied France), during an attempt to bring V2-missile parts to the top of the Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe (4800m). No date is given.
My first thought was: those 1-generation helos couldn't fly that high, but according to here http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg...bschrauber.htm
the Fa 223 had a service ceiling of 5500m. Still hard to believe.

And now the real mystification: why did the Germans want to put a V2-missile on this snow-cap of all places? I have never heard of such attempts before and it sounds ludicrous.
