Bf 109E Pls identify

A Russian photographer Yuri Shafer's image made in February 1943 nearby Stalingrad.

It depicts Bf 109E-7 upgraded from 109E-1 at Erla Lepzig.
The plane belongs to a Stab Schwarm.
Can anybody identify what Geschwader does it belong to?

Re: Bf 109E Pls identify

Hello moustaf,

Better a Bf109E-1 upgraded to E-7 standards. OK?
Think about Sch.G. 1.
Very, very good picture. Thanks moustaf.

Regards,
Franck.

Nice shot! Thanks!
I have other images of Bf109E from JG 3 sporting this kind of marking.
Cheers

They did not built E-1, but they modified about 475 E-1 and E-3 to E-7 according to Radinger and Schick book.

Re: Bf 109E Pls identify

Hi moustaf,

Sorry for the correction, I didn't read "From" and understood "To".... Shame on me!
I stay with Sch.G 1. Goran is right, but not only JG 3; JG 2 too.
Whatever, these planes, Sch.G 1 ones, cames from II.(Schlacht.)/LG 2 and this multi bomb rack (don't know the model...) was common in that unit.

Regards,
Franck.

Guys

What speaks against any JG unit is the time and place. I doubt very much that ANY Jagdgeschwader operated any Emils in February 1943. At this time even the F model was on its way out.....

At the time Stab./SchG 1 was based at Voroshilovgrad and still used the E-model. The statement nearby Stalingrad is fuzzy and can be "anywhere" depending on the indivuals meaning of "nearby". You just need to travel to the north of Sweden to know what I mean....

But I agree with all others that the photo is very good indeed.

Cheers
Stig

The pooto was made by Yuri Schafer most likely before February 2, 1943 and it looks like Morozovskaya or Tazinskaya airfield.

Voroshilovgrad that time was not released by our Army however Russian mechanics are working on the plane.

I will post one more photo of 109F VD+V?, a photo of Ju-87 - so maybe we can definitely recover the airfield.
