Does anybody have any information about the following mysterious crash;
1943-08-02,Bf109, Rockanje (ZW Moordijkseweg), the Netherlands Pilot, unit and mission unknown at this point. Loss records for NL only show the crash but do not reveal any other information. |

Are you referring to Aug-02-1943 or February 08-1943?

This information is from the database of the Dutch Study Group Airwar 1939-1945, as published by the NIMH. The Dutch Institute of Militairy History, the historical department of the Dutch Forces. You have to read this date as August 2nd, 1943. In this database the ID of this crash is T2777A
Jaap Woortman Member Study Group Airwar 1939-1945. |

Re: Bf109 crash Rockanje, Holland 02-08-1943
Update:
SGLO NL loss register for 1943 lists 2 Bf-109 losses over the Netherlands this day. One 5 km NW of the island Texel and this one. After investigations it seemed that JG54 from Schiphol were fighting the RAF 12 grp. Spitfire escorts of a RAF 16 grp. Beaufighter squadron attacking shipping off the coast of Den Helder. Accoording to JG54 losses 2 Bf109's were lost with one casualty; Uffz. Gotthard Obst. The other pilot (Uffz. Werner Sadrina) was wounded but is reported to have managed to land on the Island of Texel with approx. 20% damage to his Bf-109. JG54 claim several Beaufighters that day but records reveal no losses. It seems unlikely that the plane of Uffz. Werner Sadrina ended up at Rockanje. It is possible but seems highly unlikely as it would have passed its Base (Schiphol) on the way from the combat zone to Rockanje. It would only be possible if the pilot would be totally disorientated and or wounded. |

Re: Bf109 crash Rockanje, Holland 02-08-1943
I have an loss of an Bf 109 reported on July 30, 1943, in Helhoek 2 km northeast from Rockanje (this would fit with Moordijksweg because it's near Helhoek).
It was the "yellow 2" from 6./ JG 2. At this day the II.group fought against bombers of 8.USAAF over Netherlands. The damage was 35 % and the pilot, Lt. Pormann (it's possible that I misreaded the name) was light injured. Maybe this your mystery crash ... only reported later on August 2nd, 1943 ... Bet wishes Rasmussen |

Re: Bf109 crash Rockanje, Holland 02-08-1943
Thanks Rasmussen, this must be the solution. Helhoek is indeed very close to the Moordijksweg. This was the missing info I was looking for.
Thanks very much. |

Re: Bf109 crash Rockanje, Holland 02-08-1943
Unfortunately the name Lt. Pormann does not show up in any of my Luftwaffe pilot lists. Indeed maybe a spelling error. Could be Hoffmann, but then could be a lot..

Re: Bf109 crash Rockanje, Holland 02-08-1943
The name could be Pohlmann, I believe there was a Pohlmann flying with JG-2
