SM-82 Canguro Transport Aircraft used by Luftwaffe

Does anyone have any information on these aircraft? Uses? Crashes? Shoot downs? Personnel? Etc.

My stepfather Heinrich G. Thomas was an unteroffizier observer on these. Looking for old squadron comrades and any other info available.

severall units like TG1 used the Sm 82.
Here you will find some first basic info about units using this AC:

If you can find a copy, Georg Schlaug: «Geschichte Einer Transportflieger-Gruppe Im II. Weltkrieg» (Kameradschaft Ehemaliger Transportflieger, 1989) has quite a lot on II./TG 1's use of the type.

Also, for one that was shot down, go to: http://www.ghostbombers.com/dragoon/odnav.html and click on the link for 17 August 1944.
