Hi Rick,

Do you know the names of three pilots that were copilot of John F. SUTHERLAND and together shooted down the Japanese bomber „Betty“ on October 5, 1942?

Many many thanks.

Zdenek

First, to clarify my previous post Fukushige was shot down by another Hornet F4F flight.

Yamada was the victim of Sutherland's flight. Sutherland's wingman was Lt (j.g.) Henry Carey. His number 3 and 4 men were Lts (j.g.) David Freeman and A. Dietrich. Sutherland made the first sighting. Carey may have made the decisive hits but all participated.
