JG27. Western Desert, 1942

Are there any JG 27 'buffs' who have information relating to an attack on a Ju.52 by three Spitfires near Mersa Matruh on the afternoon of 29 September 1942? The Ju.52 force-landed near the coast road (the Via Balbia), where it burned out. Apparently there were passengers from JG27 on board.

There does not appear to be a matching loss reported. The closet would a landing accident at Sanjet Quasaba, damage only reported as 10%.

Re: JG27. Western Desert, 1942

Thanks, Chris and 'thenelm'. I have had the the Ju.52 loss confirmed by a crewman who was on board at the time and by the Spitfire pilot who shot it down. I have now found out that one of the JG27 personnel on board wrote of his experience in an article published in Jägerblatt 08/1984. Anyone got a copy of the article that they are willing to share?
