He 111 lost 17.12.39 II/KG26

Hi i have a loss from the book " Achtung Torpedos Los " by Rudi Schmidt
for 17.12.39 from II/KG26.
The crew lost were:

Lt Hans Husgens,
Fw Walter Stemmler,
Fw Erwin Hasse,
Uffz Erich Frank.

If anybody is fortunate enough to possess the NVM for this unit, could they please check this loss out, i cant find any loss to match. Thanks.

Hi,

they crashed down due to engine failure W of Sylt. They were from 6./KG26.

6./KG26 Heinkel He111H-2 (5385). Crashed in sea west of Sylt, cause unknown. FF Lt Hans Hüsgen, BO Fw Walter Stemmler, BF Fw Erwin Hasse, and BM Uffz Erich Frank all missing. Aircraft 100% write-off.

is there a further loss of kg26 that day? i also have nearly the same loss for I./kg26 at sylt.

No Jim, I have no other losses listed for KG26 on that date.

Morning Peter, thank you for the info on Lt Husgen's loss.

Peter and Jim, i too have another loss for this date, 2/KG26 a/c crashing on fire at Hornum/Sylt with one crewman killed and the remainder unhurt.

Gentleman, i have another mystery loss from KG26 from the same source as previously.

27.11.39 He111H-3

Oblt Hans-Jurgen Speck,
Uffz Johann Obele,
Fw Horst-Wilhelm Schneider,
Gefr. Johannes Schmidt.

Can anybody please provide any clues to the demise of this a/c, or any
usual loss details.
