He 115 loss on 12 April 1940
Hi all,
I would like to know the name and fate of the crew of the He 115 WNr 2401 of 1./906 that crashed into the Baltic Sea during a cover patrol over the Lützow on 12 April 1940. The pilot, Lt Wolfgang Reisch, was killed. Thanks in advance |

Re: He 115 loss on 12 April 1940
He 115 WNr 2401 8L+GH crashed whilst on patrol over the Lützow during a steep turn. The crew consisted of Uffz Nikolaus May (whom I have as the pilot) Lt.z.S Wolfgang Reich (whom I have listed as the observer), Gfr Gunther Komnick (Bf) all killed in the crash.
Hope this helps |

Thanks Adam,
You're right about Reich being the observer, I had this name as the "aircraft captain" whom I assumed was the pilot, but in German floatplanes at the time it was usually the observer. |

Re: He 115 loss on 12 April 1940
I have noted the location of the accident to be Kieler-Förde. As you say, the aircraft had to make a steep turn to avoid some fog while patrolling over the "Lützow". However, I only have Reich as killed. The other two crewmembers I have as injured. Did they survive the avtual crash and later died from their injuries ?? Someone may have the NVM for this accident.
