Sovjet Air Attacks during 1945

Gentlemen,

Can anyone of you provide me with information concerning sovjet air attacks during the last month of ww2? Is there a certain source or forum on the internet? Which aircrafts were used, successes of pilots, pictures, etc...
I've read about an airstrike on April 17th, 1944. Probably been a support for ground troops. Any help is greatly apprechiated.
Thanks alot!

Kurtl

Hi, I have an article in german language in the downloads section of my homepage about the aerial battles over Berlin.

What "airstrike on April 17th, 1944" do you talk about? I am curious

You will maybe need a Russian translator, but the website http://allaces.ru/p/epismain.php will list hundreds of episode of the air war on the Eastern front, classed per month and day. So you may find interesting things for 1945.

As for the content, there is a mix of articles coming right from Soviet era, personnal testimonies and more recent articles using open archives. The main difference between the latter and the first being their focus on Soviet losses and possible failures rather than huge enemy losses and repeated heroic deeds by Soviet airmen.

Anyway, if you ever keep a critic eye, this website may be interesting for you.

Re: Sovjet Air Attacks during 1945

Thanks alot gentlemen! That's a beginning.
I'm focusing at the area around Vienna, Austria during the time period April - May 1945. Several local historian describe an air attack by sovjets on April 17th, 1945. They hit railwaystation and small military objects in several small towns south east of Vienna.
http://allaces.ru/p/epismain.php unfortunatly has not many locations in it's reports but it is an beginning. Again, thanks! - Kurtl
