Fw190 with JG54
Hi
I have two other Fw190's W.Nrs which were located on the FHC Fw190A-5 W.Nr1227 'White A' of 4./JG54 which just flew and is currently being painted. These were just replacement bits added during the few weeks of operations. The battery cover had 'Fw190 W.Nr1237' (Not 1227!) One of the 20mm ammunition boxes had W.Nr 689 (A-4?) I have never found any listings for these '190's with JG54? There has also been discussions that the first 12 Fw190's provided to 4./JG54 in June 1943 came from another unit and this seems to be confirmed by this document. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.o...0/fw190a5.html One thought is the Fw190's of 4./JG54 came from 7./JG26 when they returned west. Fw190A-5 1227 had no previous tactical markings. On Fw190A-5 1227, the yellow band on the rear fuselage (painted out when it got to JG54), is similar to that carried on Fw190's of JG51. The three colour scheme also has a few similarities with Brown 8 of 3/JG51 though the profile shows this aircraft in two greens. (Seen in Classic Publications - Jagdwafe - War in Russia 1942-43. Page 243.) Any thoughts and help would be appreciated. regards MS |
