762 IAP on 8 April 1942
One for our Russian friends: on this date Serzhant Pavel Timofeevich Lomonosov of 762 IAP was killed when his I-16 was shot down in an air battle near Bannoe, Donetsk. He was buried in the cemetery of Yarova, near Bannoe, and that is his probable crashplace.
Map: http://wikimapia.org/12840725/ru/%D0...BD%D0%BE%D0%B5 This air battle might have been agaisnt Stab I./JG 77. I am searching more details about the Soviet view of the battle. Thanks in advance. Laurent |
