Fw 190 A-9 W.Nr. 980573

Hello,

In a logbook of a transfer pilot Fw 190 A-9 W.Nr. 980573 is mentioned. Interestingly, the type is given as A-9.S1 and the flight was to Garz/Usedom, where according to www.ww2.dk the Versuchskommando of KG 200 was based.

Hence, my guess is that W.Nr. 980573 was a modified A-9 for use on top of a S1 Mistel.

Does anybody have 980573 recorded as upper component of a Mistel?

Thanks,
Roger

Hello Roger,
I’m not as Mistel expert but I have some mistel notes designating them as Mistel 1, S1, S2, 3 and S3. So your could be right.
No info on 573, only the loss of 570, 572, 575

Hello Dennis,

Thank you for the info. I was checking some Mistel photos yesterday, but could only find A-8s and F-8s. And I remembered that S1 was the designation for the Bf 109 / Ju 88 A combination. So, maybe the A-9.S1 designation was referring to something else. I'll check if there are other similar entries in the log as soon as I have it.
