He111s III/KG27 Greece 1944

Hi guys

I have a note that suggests III/KG27 (probably 7 Staffel) lost five He111s on the night of 1/2 October 1944, while participating in the evacuation of the Dodecanese.

One of these was 1G+MR

Can anyone provide additional information please?

Cheers
Brian

Hi Brian,

these He111 losses tie in with the claims of 46 squadron (see 46 Sq site)

Re: He111s III/KG27 Greece 1944

Hi Bruce

Yes, I am aware of 46 Squadron's claims for the two nights but they claimed, one He111, one Ju88, 2 Do24, one Ju52.

So who claimed the other Heinkels? And do we know the identities and fates of the crewmembers lost?

Cheers
Brian

Re: He111s III/KG27 Greece 1944

Hi Remi

That's really terrific information. Thanks very much indeed.

Since you have no names for the crew of 1G+BM, would that suggest they survived?

Incidentally, I note that 108 Squadron claimed a Ju88 and a He111 on these two nights.

Thanks again

Brian

Mittrach herbert ge 63642/469-bd -290524-Sallgast Frankfurt/O

Just one wounded , plane 100 % lost

Rémi

The report is made by Fw Jobst , the group was in the Königsberg area, nd i. 27.Oct. 5 planes flew thru Wiener-Neustadt , Belgrad, Athen,
Start at 19h35 from Kalamaki, they made a forced landing i. Med-sea,
following Night-fighter action, so all the planes engaged hv been shoot-down
