Heinz Bar's Me262 Victories

On the LEMB board, I saw that a member had posted the Me262 Logbook victory entries of Obstlt. Heinz Bar.
This is was was posted:

March 19,1945- 1 P-51 Mustang
March 21,1945 - 1 B-24 Liberator
March 24,1945 - 1 B-24 Liberator and 1 P-51 Mustang
April 4,1945 - 1 B-26 Marauder
April 9,1945- 2 B-26 Marauders
April 17 - 1 B-26 Marauders
April 18,1945 - 2 P-47 Thunderbolts
April 19,1945 - 2 P-51 Mustangs

These are the ones I can document with corresponding Allied losses:

April 4, 1945 - 323rd BG B-26 s/n 42-107593 -shot down by Me262
April 9, 1945 - 43-34334 (556th BS) shot down by Me 262 9/4/45. MACR 14379

Any ideas on the rest?

I should add that on March 19,1945, the 52nd FG reported an "attempted bounce by an Me262 on a flight of three Mustangs, but the P-51s quickly outmaneuvered the jet.
Realizing he had failed his attack, the German left the area."

Uhmmm, if we add up his jet victories, we get 15 instead of his 16 reported?

On the last page of his logbook :
"Letzer Abschuss Thunderbolt am 28.4.45 über Bad Aibling "
and
" ???, 4 Abschüsse, ???, bis 29.4.45 ?? eingetragen.
his hand writing difficult to decipher.
cheers Thierry

Re: Heinz Bar's Me262 Victories

Kaki3152

In my notes, I recorded the following claims for Bar while in JV-44 from the book 'Me262 Combat Dairy' by Foreman

27.04.45 2 x Thunderbolts
28.04.45 1 x Thunderbolt
29.04.45 1 x Mosquito

From Thierry's reply it appears that this lines up with the log-book except for the questions surrounding the undecipherable last claim.

I only have my notes with me and not the book so I couldn't recheck to confirm (especially the type for the last claim).

Regards,

Craig...

Re: Heinz Bar's Me262 Victories

If one of Bar's victories was a Mosquito then this could account for him claiming 16 kills instead of the stated 15. I believe Luftwaffe pilots were awarded 2 victories for each Mosquito shot down.

Phil

Re: Heinz Bar's Me262 Victories

Phil,

The 12 mentioned in Kaki3152 orignal post was with III./EJG2 plus the 4 I mentioned in my earlier post (including the questionable last claim over a mosquito) = 16.

The points was for awards and his points would have been much higher if you take into consideration the 2 Liberators and 3 marauders mentioned in Kaki3152 post.

Hope someone with a copy of his log book can decipher that entry and clear up the issue of his last claim.

Regards,

Craig..
