Seeking factories tied to W.Nr. blocks for Bf 109E-4 and E-7

The references I have do not link factories to werk nummer blocks for the E-4 and E-7 variants; would some kind soul happen to have this information handy?

Thanks much,

Lynn

2789 should be the first true E-4 for Regensburg, earlier a/c were E-3a upgraded to E-4 status later on.

Thanks for that inforamtion. Can you confirm that the old E-3a recieved with the upgrade also new werk numbers?
I have only two E-3 in this range - one loss report WNr.2746 08.06.40 7./JG26 Lt. Klaus Mietusch (KG), Luftkampf mit Hurricane - Notlandung, Offnonville - 100% (E-3),
and one note that WNr.2714 SK+CD was exported to Rumania.
All others losses are E-4 during 1940. or E-7s later on.
WNr.2711 was a D-1 according this loss report - 03.11.41 4.(Eins.)/JFS4 Gefr. Artur Schrader (†), Notlandung, Fl.Pl. Krefeld - 100% (D-1)
and WNr.2723 also a D-1 according to a photo autumn.39 3./JGr.126 unknown, Fl.Pl. Bönninghardt, ge.3+I (D-1)

Can someone shed more light in this early Regensburg production block?

ragards, Tomislav

Re: Seeking factories tied to W.Nr. blocks for Bf 109E-4 and E-7

Hiya Tomislav,
Following on from your last post, i have another example within the early
27## range within the scope of your interest. Dont know whether you have this one also, but its classed as a ME109E-1 subtype, and not 109D

W.Nr 2719 NJ+ES ME109E-1 I/JG52 100% 15.5.41

Ive got various w.nr's from 2600 - 2697 staggered as both ME109E and ME109D models also!

Id welcome any further imput on this batch, from perhaps other experts.

Rgs,
Steve.

Re: Seeking factories tied to W.Nr. blocks for Bf 109E-4 and E-7

Hello Steve,

No, I don't have any data on WNr.2719, so I immediatly checked this loss on 15.05.41. You should check you source again for this loss because it's missing one number in the WNr.
The only loss that I./JG52 had on that day was

Bf109 F-2 WNr.12 719 2./JG52 Lt. Franz Bernhard (†), air combat with Blenheim - crashed, in the See near Texel, Pl.Qu.5412 - 100%

The stammkennzeichen of WNr.12 719 IMHO should be NI+ES, not NJ+ES, because Bf109F-2 WNr.12 723 was positivly identified according to a photo as having the stkz NI+EW.
The stkz of the early 27xx range Bf109Es could be SK+C* according to the photos showing Bf109Es exported to Romania (known WNr.2714 & 2733).

Regarding the 26xx batch - true, I also have a mixed bunch of E and D models. I've noticed that Emils are appearing more often after WNr.2657.

regards,
Tomislav

Hi Tomislav,
Thanks for your reply.
As regards my source of data for NJ+ES, this came from Air Publication's
1941 The Turning Point part2 page 220. Having looked at your reply it would appear that this is a typo, and your info is correct!!

Best regards,
Steve.

Hi.

For Your information a lot of new information on the early Bf 109's and Bf 110's have been brought to my attention (especially with regards to WNr vs factory information).

Results of this will be published.
