12.06.41 awarded the Ehrenpokal.
01.11.41 trf 7./NJG 2.
10.07.42 Ofw., awarded DKG, Erg.St./NJG 2.
01.08.42 promo to Lt.
29.10.42 now Lt. (d.R.), awarded Ritterkreuz, 3./NJG 1.
11.42 trf to 4./NJG 2.
c.11.42 trf to NJ Schule 1 as an instructor?
01.07.43 trf to 3./NJG 1.
01.08.43 promo to Oblt.
15.08.43 Oblt., appt Staka 3./NJG 1 (to 01.09.44).
05/06.09.43 WIA - both engines shot out in combat and crashed vic Güsten near Jülich.

Strüning, Heinz. - Hptm. - born: 1/13/1912 Neviges Rheinland - 56 victories - 5./ZG-26(39), (Z)/KG-30(40), 1./NJG-2(11/40), 7 & 4./NJG-2, Stfkpt 2 & 3./NJG-1(7/42), Stfkpt 9./NJG-1 Ju 88C-1 Werk # 0142 "4D + NH" (force land-Flak 4/13/40), in KG-30, Bf 110C & He 219 in 3/NJG-1, Bf 110G-4 Werk# 740162 "G9 + CT" (lost 12/44) RK(10/29/42)-El (7/20/44), DK-G(7/29/42), EP(6/12/41), EK 1 & 2, Wound Badge, Night Fighter Operational Clasp KIA 24/25 December, 1944 when he was shot down by an RAF Mosquito of RAF No. 157 Sq., piloted by S/Ldr R.D. Doleman, near Werl. When bailing out, he struck the tailplane and was killed. His body was found some weeks later. WIA 5/6 September, 1943, when both engines were damaged in combat and he crashed at Güsten (Balss). He lost another G-4, Wk# 4868 on 14 July, 1943, crahing at Maasbree Holland, cause and pilot/crew disposition unknown (DeSwart). All Night victories, 250 Night combat missions; 30 Day combat missions, 70 missions over England. His first known victory, a Wellington the night of 23 November, 1940, no location. His 2nd, a Hudson 75 km east of Great Yarmouth, 15 Feb., 1941. His 3rd, a Wellington 65 km ENE of Southend on the night of 15-16 February, 1941. His 4th, a Wellington at Peterborough othe night of 6-7 May, 1941. His 5th, a Wellington NE of Clacton the night of 9-10 May, 1941. Nos.8 & 9 two Blenheims at the Grantham airfield the night of 18-19 August, 1941. A 10th, a Fortress I at Upwood on 13 October, 1941. A "4 mot" at Dortmund on 24 March, 1944. A Lancaster 18 km NE of Brügge on 11 May, 1944. A Halifax 15 km SSE of Brussels on 13 May, 1944. Bowers/Lednicer, 56 victories. Alternate spelling: Struening (DeSwart).
