Do 215 05/06/1940
Hello gentlemen,
In my research, I have discovered a testimony of a German bomber crash. On June 5, 1940, a Dornier 215 falls in the south-west of Albert (Somme). Does anyone know of his unit and his crew? Thank you for your help. Regards. |

Re: Do 215 05/06/1940
AbbevilleBoy,
Here is what we carry in the EOE (Eagles Over Europe) loss data base for this incident: "June 5, 1940: 4./AufklGr.ObdL. Dornier Do215B-4 (0022). Failed to return from reconnaissance sortie to Nantes and crashed near Warloy-Baillon, north-east of Amiens, cause unknown. BF Uffz Rudolf König and BM Uffz Wilhelm Lichtenberger both killed, BO Lt Fritz von Brandt and FF Oberfw Emil Schneider both wounded. Aircraft G2+HH 100% write-off." I've checked the EOE photo data base and we don't have any photos that I can identify of this crash. Can you provide a translation into English for us of the information and/or photos that you may have developed about this incident? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, |

Re: Do 215 05/06/1940
Hi,
@ Larry, do you have a document that confirms the B-4 version? It was completed as B-1 originally - obviously it could have been upgraded, but it was an early loss. I have made a note that Marcel Hogenhuis have mentioned somewhere that this aircraft might have been G2+HM. /Mike |

Re: Do 215 05/06/1940
Mikael,
I have only what Peter Cornwell has compiled about this loss, as I quoted from the EOE Loss DB. He will know where the details come from, and probably will respond to your post. Regards, |

Mikael,
'Do 215 Werk-Nr-022 Kennzeichen G2+HH' is all as reported in Anlage 2 of the relevant NVM. |

Re: Do 215 05/06/1940
Hello Larry,
Thanks for your information. I contacted my witness again, it has one or two photos of the plane that burned. It should look. I spent the scan as soon as possible. Regards. |
