Re: Searching info on: Transportstaffel Gen. Kdo. IV Fliegerkorps

Hi,

this unit is usually refered to as Transportstaffel IV./Fliegerkorps.
Due to differing sources it was formed at Avord (near Bourges in France) in july 1940 or at Münster-Loddenheide in april 1940, by
drawing a/c from various other (active and disbanded) units.
Known bases are (thx to Merlin at LEMB):

Apr 40 Münster-Loddenheide
05.08.1940 Dinard
Mrz 41 Villacoublay
Jun 41 Roman(ia)
Aug 41 Balta-Perileti
01.11.1941 Nikolajew
11.05.1942 Saporoshje
29.07.1942 Taganrog
11.02.1943 Saporoshje
21.09.1943 Kirowograd
29.10.1943 Perwomaisk
08.01.1944 Terespol
25.03.1944 Bielany/Warschau
05.06.1944 Seerappen
04.08.1944 Bromberg
24.08.1944 Thorn

The staffel was equipped with (12?) Ju52 transport aircraft but some individual smaller a/c (i. e. Fi156, Fw44, Fw34) are known too.

The unit marking was a large rearward pointing black (outlined white) triangle, painted on both sides of the rear fuselage. The last fuselage code letter was outlined white, no matter wether it was a factory code or a former unitcode. First two digits of unitcodes were oftenly overpainted.
As always with luftwaffe markings of WWII, there were some exceptions.
Known codes are i. e. J9+ZH, 1G+LV, BD+PW, NN+OR.
In december 1942 the unitcode G8+?H was assigned to Transportstaffel
IV./Fliegerkorps, the triangle markings were deleted and new codes applied.
The staffel operated mainly at the eastern front.
