I was pretty surprised to find 2 losses that I couldnt trace , even not in the Opus Prien++

22.Febr.1940 11. Nachtj.st. JG1 forcelanding 20 km from Norderney , pilot saved

19.Febr. 1940 JG1 crash around Roter Sand/Spikerroog , seems plane nd pilot lost fro eternity

Any clue ??

Re: Bf109 from JG1 1940

Remi,

I have nothing on 19 Feb, but I do have two incidents in the EOE Luft Loss DB on 22 Feb that could account for both of the items in your query, although the unit ID for the second is not as you posted:

"1./JG1 Messerschmitt Bf109E. Crashed on landing at Krefeld. (Ff) Uffz Kurt Hoppe injured. Aircraft 50% damaged but repairable.

11.(N)/JG2 Messerschmitt Bf109D-1. Abandoned north-west of Norderney following engine failure. (Ff) Oberfw Hermann Förster baled out unhurt. Aircraft 100% write-off."

Hope that this helps.

Regards,

Re: Bf109 from JG1 1940

You hv at least one Förster, prob. you are right also with the main unit, no Nachtst. on the JG1, just the chute-jump is questionnable, refering to the "Seenot" docs seems to hv forced landed his plane , the "Gummiboot" was not standart in the Bf109 at that time, crash 10h30 at 12 saved by He115 S4+EL of Hptm Bergemann
