Erich Hartmann's Bf 109 G-10

Hi there Gang,

On 5 September, Flavio of LEMB Forum stumbled on two hitherto unknown pics showing Erich Hartmann's last mount, an Erla built Bf 109 G-10. This machine was until then only known through the well known shot showing a tired but smiling Hartmann in front of this machine as he was greeted for his 350th kill - if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks to Peter who uploaded them on 8 September over on LEMB, you can find now two larger pics I've chosen to put in the late war Bf 109 data base:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream

The second one is especially interesting as it shows beyond the Erla built G-10 features also the tulip painted between the spinner and the engine cowlings.

Any idea about where, when and which W.Nr. this machine sported?

Cheers
Marc

...and for those interested in the discussion we had on these images, the LEMB thread can be found here. Also, a fantastic colour profile of this bird by Anders/Cpt_Farrel can be found here

Re: Erich Hartmann's Bf 109 G-10

I am glad that Marc brought out this topic, because I (and not only me, I guess) have waited for so long to see more of the last Bf 109 flown by Hartmann... thanks.

I have tried to correct the optical distortion of the original prints as they were made available... not a perfect job, but it helps.

Excellent Ferdinando,

With your per mission, I will upload your corrected pics. Now, we'll all have to wait for a pic of this machine showing also the rudder and its...W.Nr.!!

Cheers
