Seeking quality copy of photo of 4./KG51 photo of 9K+HM down in France on June 5, 1940
Hello,
I'm trying to locate a quality copy of the attached photo, which shows the starboard side of Ju88A-1 9K+HM of 4./KG51, which made a forced landing between Treix and Andelot NE of Chaumont, France, on June 5, 1940; Lt Zobel crew POW. This copy was photographed from an exhibition at a French museum, but I need a much better copy to work from for a color profile. This a/c has a large number "29" in white on the top of the fin on both sides. I have the SHA-D image of the crash of this a/c, but I'm looking for other views of this crash, particularly the port side. I'm aware of the photos in Arnaud Gillet's "French Victories" book. I think that there are a number of photos out there of this one, and I'm hoping to locate them. Also, does anyone have confirmation that these large white two-digit numbers on the uppers fin's of Ju88A-1s are related to the a/c W.Nr.? I've seen examples on Ju88A-1s of both KG51 and II./LG1. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, |

Larry, out of curiosity do you have the first names of the crew for this a/c
within the EOE database. I have Zobel, Herr, Tocha, and Graffenberger but no first names or functions. I cant had any further photo's to yours or Remi's, or clues to the werknummer, im afraid. Kindest regs, Steve. |

4./KG51 Junkers Ju88A-1 (29). Shot down by Capt Williame, Lt Husson, S/Lt Audebert, and Sgt de Puybusque of GC I/2 south of Troyes during sortie to attack Tours airfield and belly-landed between Treix and Andelot, north-east of Chaumont, 1.45 p.m. FF Lt Hans-Joachim Zobel captured wounded, BO Oberlt Peter Herr, BF Fw Edgar Tocha, and BM Oberfw Karl Graffenberger captured unhurt – all later released. Aircraft 9K+HM 100% write-off.
