Hurricane I V7073 Sgt. Parafinski

Hi all, As I normally only research Luftwaffe losses I am hoping that someone can give me further information on the loss of Sgt. Parafinski No.308(P) Sqdn on the 25th February 1941. Sgt. Parafinski's Hurricane I crashed near Cottesmore, Northants.

Kind regards

Melvin

Combat training flight with P/O Retinger. Dived into the ground from 8.000 feet near Guisborough. Probably lost consciousness due to oxygen failure.

Many thanks John, but now more confused as ORB states crash at Cottesmore and you have the location at Guisborough, there is no Guisborough in Northamptonshire but there is a Guilsborough!

Melwin

All sources I have (all second hand) states this happened 26.2.941 and NOT on the 25th.
Robert Gretzyngier in his Poles in defence of Britain July 40-June 41 says
Sgt Mieczyslaw Parafinski lost his life in mysterious circumstances during combat training with P/O Witold Retinger in which Hurricane I V7073 crashed at Guisborough 26.2.41.
Checking Air Britain RAF Aircraft V1000-W9999, Jim Halley says the crash happened 2 miles NE of Guilsborough, Northants, 26.2.41.

Since Guisborough and Guilsborough is no doubt the same place and Guilsborough is the correct spelling

Cheers
Stig
