KG 100 Heinkel He 111 configuration
C. F. Rawnsley, John Cunningham's radar operator, describes in "Night Fighter" how they chased an KG 100 He 111 in spring of 1942: "... the Heinkel was clearly visible and we closely studied the details of the aircraft. There was an unusual projection under the nose, and from the port wing there trailed several long whip aerials."
Any ideas what gadgets this He carried? TIA, Richard |

Re: KG 100 Heinkel He 111 configuration
I wonder if the projection was the Lotfe bomb sight? Many aircraft had trailing aerials. Don't forget this would have been the first time that this nightfighter crew had a combat with a He 111 in daylight
