Hptm Kossack / KGrzbV.105

Hi members

At 07.09.41 a Ju 52/3m / 5572 from KGrzbV.105 must be made an emergency landing after an air-battle near of Unetscha/SU.
One of the crew-members, the observer, was the squadron-leader. His name was Hptm. Kossack.

I think, this was Werner Kossack, the former squadron-leader of 1./KGrzbV.102 (Feb.-June 1941).
Does anybody know, to which squadron of KGrzbV.105 Hptm Kossack belonged ?

best wishes
JoMe

Hi Matti and Byron

Thank you for your reply. This helps.
Do you know, at what time 2./KGrzbV.102 was renamed in 1./KGrzbV.105 ?

best wishes

Re: Hptm Kossack / KGrzbV.105

April 1941 would be about right. Had to do with the realignment of transport units for Operation Marita, the attack south into Yugoslavia and Greece.

Re: Hptm Kossack / KGrzbV.105

I checked some of my notes and can fine-tune the date:

KGr. z.b.V. 105
Balkans. (Mar 41 - Jun 41)
Mar 41: reactivated, and on 24 March based at Altenburg/Thuringia.

[Source: NARA WashDC: RG 242/T-971 roll 19.]

So that's the date according to Luftwaffe documents.
